Exploring Guild Maps II - Bard

Notice: This is just a look at some of the guild maps that have been made for Eternal Lands. This blog provides no secrets.
The entrances to these maps and any secrets to get around them will never be posted, nor will I provide them so don't ask.

Bard, The Bard's Guild is a very old guild. These days only a very small handful of players are still playing in that guild, and doubtful any of them were involved with the creation of this map.

Guard Bot: No

PK: No. One clearly-marked PK arena so there's no accidentally entering PK areas.

Honestly, I'd have to rate this among one of the duller maps I've explored. Primarily because the overwhelming majority of it is trees. A few rare spots have some open space, almost all of which you can see in the pics below, but you can't really move around anywhere else without dealing with the incredible overkill of trees.

It's not a poorly done map, it just feels overcluttered and very little in the way of variety. Only to go inside buildings to find those only barely decorated, and a few buildings on the map you'd expect to be able to go in are, like Melinis, not accessible.

While I'm sure the trees were intentionally done that way for a "forest" feel, it just doesn't work in this case. I only took a few shots showing the outer map area... if you want to know how the rest looks, picture, well, AA's southwest forest, with more trees.

Anyway, on with the show:

1) Welcome to the jungle (literally) - This is where you appear on entering.

Bard

2) Inside the map's sparsely decorated tavern.

Bard

3) Here thar be veggies a'growing.

Bard

4) Map builder error - Buildings should be at least 20 tiles apart. You can tele-to-range between the houses for this part. Useless in that they're all within a few steps from each other outside.

Bard

5) Map builder error 2 - Where the hell is the floor for this place?

Bard

6) I thought the last one might just be a glitch, but then I saw this floor in the "guildmaster's home". The GM hasn't been seen in-game in years. I think he may have fell in here, lost forever.

Bard

7) And here we come to the obligatory PK arena. Simple but serves its purpose.

Bard

8) I see dead people... most of the guild, that is.

Bard

9) There's quite a few houses and tents to go into, none particularly special. There's two places you'd expect to be able to enter, but can't, and may have made for a bit more interesting interiors. First, a chapel.

Bard

10) and second, this tower.

Bard

11) And another field covers another of the rare open tree-free spots.

Bard

12) Oh something different, a circle of tents.

Bard

13) The tents have the same spacing issue as the houses on the inside. Worse, they're completely empty.

Bard

14) And finally, this small area was accessible via a cave path. Problem is, there's no reasoning as to why it's separated from the rest of the map, nothing different or unusual about it compared to the rest of the map. Seems like it was done just for the sake of putting a cave somewhere.

Alch 137, OA 163, and More Than a Bit More

Figgered it's time to stop my laziness and update...

Pears R Us

Yeah, the hunts continue. However I'm probably hunting less than half the time that I used to, thus my name showing up less. Real life calls, and as well when I'm actually playing there are times I prefer to continue working on a project instead. Pears don't create levels after all. (Though they do help pay for things like School Day stones, hehe.)

Current count is 382 pears found.

The Gods Must Be... Used

Current gods being alchemy, manufacturing, and magic, I've of coursed been leaning heavily on those skills.

Alchemy - Tons of essies are required for Magic, so I've gotten a lot of experience from that. As well as mixing for other things, like self-crafting my ring stash.

As well, stockpiling magic essie ings for School Days, of which I've personally used 5 stones for since the last update. Some for manu, some for alch.

You advanced to level 136 and 137 of alchemy!

Alchemy 137

Magic - A difficult skill to level when you're not using any form of PvP in gameplay, thus the method most use, mana draining each other, is not an option.

I have made my levels without that, and plan to hit a goal level of 100 without resorting to it either.

So how? I explored all the spells that don't require other people to use, and checked their experience-per-gc to see which were the most cost-efficient. From there I weighed in time factors... speed of power-using the spell with mana limitations, time to mix all the necessary essences and SR potions, and so on.

I came up with 3 spells I'd primarily level with...
1- Magic Immunity - Best exp/gc that doesn't require another person.
2- True Sight - More expensive, but much faster experience due to less mana used and much more experience per spell. Stock for this when I can for use on Magic Days, though generally use MI.
3- Mana Drain - Not in any PvP sense, I've taken to using MD when kicking FCWs. This is a 3rd option that runs far behind the first 2, as I don't feel like doing this often. But it does end up being an inexpensive option thanks to FCW drops. Mostly pays for itself and then some.

At any rate... since last update:

You advanced to level 82-84 of magic!

Magic 84

Manufacturing - The third god skill. A goal of 100 still to be achieved, but it's slowly getting there. I figure 3 more full school days should be enough to accomplish that, it's just a matter of affording and stocking the leather/thread.

Though occasionally I have taken the Trik route, for some slower but much cheaper experience.

You advanced to level 93-96 of manufacturing!

Manu 95

The Overall Experience

Managed two more Overall levels since the last update, something not easily gotten at these levels.

Your overall level is now 162-163!

Overall 163

Away from the Gods, other skills  do get some attention.

A/D continues primarily via dailies.

You advanced to level 131-132 of defense!

Defense 132

You advanced to level 131-132 of attack!

Attack 132

And well, other skills have been randomly played with:

You advanced to level 115-116 of harvesting!

Harvesting 116

You advanced to level 112 of potion!

Potion 112

You advanced to level 64-66 of ranging!

Ranging 64

You advanced to level 68-69 of tailoring!

Tailoring 69

You advanced to level 72 of crafting!

Crafting 72

For potion and crafting, those were the first time I've leveled those in quite a long while. Neither has any focus for now, just mixing potions for myself, and crafting rings for myself. That eventually led to these levels. Both will have much more focus after a few god changes.

What got left out? Summoning... Big plans for that soon enough (again after god changes), don't wanna waste ings before I get the god so I am doing some stocking for it. Engineering is completely off my radar for now though, although I will poof amber on an engineering day in the school as it stockpiles. Not stupid enough to ignore that killer experience.

Future plans:
1- Pear hunts as I feel like it or have time, less than before but still regular.
2- Power-level alchemy until I reach my goal and switch that to crafting god.
3- Power-level manufacturing (3 more school days as I can afford them) to drop it and take summoning god.
4- Continue doing what I can on magic, not expecting to reach my goal on it anytime soon, but slow and steady will help continue to poof up the level.
5- Um... seriously, that's enough. I have other things I do, but those are the only real plans.

Exploring Guild Maps I - KotP

Notice: This is just a look at some of the guild maps that have been made for Eternal Lands. This blog provides no secrets.
The entrances to these maps and any secrets to get around them will never be posted, nor will I provide them so don't ask.

View all Guild Map exploration via the Guildmaps tag.

KotP, "Knights of the Prophecy" is a guild that hasn't existed in quite a long time. Guild maps being of a more permanent nature, they left theirs behind for others to some day stumble on and wonder... wtf is this place? ;-)

At any rate, it's still in the game...

Guard Bot: No (guild no longer exists, so...)

PK: Not on first entry. Several PK areas and rooms, not all are marked.

Basics: The map starts in a non-pk area. You go through 2 pk areas to get to a non-pk castle. This is essentially a long hall of rooms, each room belonging to one of the guild members, their name showing in the room.

1) Should I stay or should I go?

KotP

2) Obligatory Guild Tag

KotP

3) Suddenly feeling the need to take a wizz...

KotP

4) After 2 minor PK areas, the entrance to the KotP castle.

KotP

5) Oh right, the first of the PK areas.

KotP

6) Asha's Room

KotP

7) ShadowCot's Room

KotP

8) CelticWolf's Room

KotP

9) Ephemeral's Room

KotP

10) Stewiedmd's Room

KotP

11) Decisions, decisions... End of the hall, which way to go?

KotP

12) A PK arena room... because all the other rooms with PK arenas wasn't enough. Oh, obligatory guild tag II.

KotP

13) Meeting hall, looks almost exactly like the last pk arena room, only not pk. Oh, obligatory guild tag III.

KotP

14) Hmmm... going down?

KotP

15) And oh, another PK arena!

KotP

The end... if you want to explore it, you'll have to find it yourself. As I said, I provide no secrets. I found it, so can you. ;-)

All Skills 60+ and Then Some

It's been a long time since last update. I've been off quite a bit, more so than on. Despite that, in those on periods, managed to get a lot done.

The Fools of April

Well, most figured out quite quickly that my last post "selling" my Burn character was an April Fool's joke.

A few didn't... one started talking on 6 about it before realizing it wasn't real. A couple of offers sent my way... responded to simply with "What day is it?"

And a lot of interest... almost 200 hits on this blog yesterday, very much over the normal amount I get on a new post.

Seriously... it came with mod powers. Certainly that would be allowed. :-D

Mission accomplished. ;-)

Tit Serp of Joker

So there was a contest along with new Joker locations. A Thermal Serp in a hyperbag under one of the new Joker locations.

When first announced, I went Joker hunting a while, but to no avail and eventually had to go to bed.

The next day I'd given up on it as my time was limited. I went on a pear hunt, and lo and behold, there was Joker on the same map. I traded him, then went on to finish the pear hunt.

After finding the pear, I went back to check and the bag was there.

Sold the weapon off of course, as I don't have a use for it. I do have use for the gc though, as seen below with the number of school days and such I've been using.

The Pears Continue to be Harvested

More recently, I've barely hunted for them, thus my name hasn't been seen much finding one. Real life has been more important and keeping me busy.

But they have been hunted when there's time. 60 pears have been found since my last update, bringing them up to 279 total.

Back to School

One of the main things I've been wasting my gc away on is school days. Not just the ones that randomly occur, but since last update I've bought stones to sponsor 5 days myself.

And of course, I used them quite a bit. First time included tailoring, but now that there's a tailoring day I will limit using school day for that. Until I reach my goals in Alch and Manu, those are the two skills I'll be focusing on for those days, and did.

The Levels Spring Forward

In no particular order, there's been quite a few since previous update...

Overall

Besides my school days, I've taken advantage of many other days, random or by others. Even Sun Tzu, though not often, I've done when I've had time.

Your overall level is now 161!

Overall 161

It helped mostly with the overall level.

But attack and defense haven't gone dead. Normally when I've been on I've only had time to get my dailies done, so they've for the most part continued even when I didn't have time for anything else.

Which has led to a couple levels on both. Limiting images below to just the last level to avoid going too long...

You advanced to level 129 and 130 of attack!

Attack 130

You advanced to level 129 and 130 of defense!

Defense 130

Attack and Defense remain low priority, until I have gotten all my other skills that have gods to 100, at the very least. Which will be quite a long time.

The Alchemist in me continues to take advantage of the Alch goddess, and school days to push it even further. Moving slowly up, I've gotten to be the #3 alchemist in the game and have no intention of stopping that leveling anytime soon. The levels come incredibly slowly at this point though, especially since it's not the only skill I'm working on.

You advanced to level 135 of alchemy!

Alchemy 135

Not mercury? You gotta be kidding right? Correct... we're talking some serious expense to get a level here. Only half of which is coming via schools as I do need a motherload of essies for my magic leveling and as well need to earn gc to afford school use.

Mercury is just a waste. I know some still try to use it, but the cost factor is extreme and gives very little over what magic essies will do. Broken alembics, the lack of cinnabar on the market as people no longer harvest it as they used to back in the day, rising cost of ings for energy essies... all have led to mercury no longer being a good use of the school. Magic essies give less exp each, but ings are much easier to get hold of or even self-harvest.

God use continues... the other use of school days has been for manufacturing, a much more expensive task where the gc provides less experience than alchemy. I get 334 exp per magic essence, but only 208 per leather helm.

Nevertheless, I git 'er done. The several school days have led to several levels.

You advanced to level 89 through 92 of manufacturing!

Manu 92

Not so bad... 8 more levels and I'll drop the manu god to focus on either crafting or summoning, haven't decided yet.

And yet the third god I have... magic. I've been pushing myself to do more random spells while sitting at storage, started with true sights but after lots of calculations determined Magic Immunity to be a better exp per gc option.

On Day of Magic though, exp per mana is a more favorable option despite the cost.

I use Mana Drain when I have the ability, which hasn't been much of late since as I said I haven't been on much. But sometimes when I can't be around I can still have the game on, and click off spells occasionally sitting at storage.

Two levels have occured...

You advanced to level 80 and 81 of magic!

Magic 81

At the point in the image, I chose to use the fast regen spot in Kusamura Jungle to speed along spell casting. Not optimal, but it was a busy time in EL and any good spawns for mana draining were taken.

There's been quite a few ranging days, and I've been taking heavy advantage of those, for quite a few levels. 7 levels to be more precise!

You advanced to levels 56 through 62 of ranging!

Ranging 62

Not bad... and definitely not cheap, hehe.

This left me with an impulsive wanna-level-it problem... I'd been almost completely ignoring summoning. It was once my third-lowest skill, with both tailoring and ranging below it.

However, ranging has gone ahead full speed as seen above, and quite a bit of focus on tailoring in the past has gotten it even higher than ranging.

Summoning has in turn become my lowest skill. And at 58, I just couldn't bear for it to be my only skill under 60. It needed some attention.

So, I started taking advantage of Summon days when they came along.

You advanced to levels 59 and 60 of summoning!

Summon 60

And with that, I hit my "All skills 60+" goal! The only problem with that, is that it automatically creates a new goal... all skills 70+. Doh! That goal will mean 10 more summon levels, 8 more ranging levels, and 3 more tailoring levels.

Right, tailoring. It's been on the wayside for the moment, as my gc has been poured into ranging and school day stock and more.

But it did get one power-up, on our very first Tailoring day.

You advanced to level 67 of tailoring!

Tailor 67

It'll likely not be leveled much in the coming months. Though I do plan to work on stock for a possible future tailoring day.

Engineering is no longer being worked on. As I said in my last update, I've dropped that god now that I'm 100+.

However, that doesn't mean I won't take advantage of Eng days when they come along, and I happen to have the ings for it. Particularly Treasure Finder ings. I had enough to "almost" get a level on an Eng day during this period. Too close for my taste, I continued leveling that day using indicator ings. Not something I'd normally do, but it was too close to level to let it drop.

You advanced to level 102 of engineering!

Eng 102

And finally (I think) is a skill I don't pay attention to, ever. I harvest what I need when I need it, and rarely pay attention to getting experience. Of course I do the two harv dailies regularly but when it comes to hourly harvs, I just harv what I need... be it amber, or be it low-level flowers.

You advanced to level 114 of harvesting!

Harv 114

And with that... um... yeah, adios. Crafting and Potion remain unleveled this time. I do mix SRs, and my own C1 rings which I eat like candy, but not enough to level, and not caring about levels for either for now.

I'll probably continue to not be as active as normal for the foreseeable future. But I'll be around.

The Secrets to Finding Joker!

Here's everything you need to know to find Joker spawn locations:

1. Go through the maps looking for him.
2. Repeat step 1.

Posting this because I've had more than a few people PMing me, wanting me to give them spawn locations of Joker.

Seriously?

1. By default, I don't give out secrets. You'll find no secrets in this blog, and you won't get them from me in the game either. I do not respond to such requests.
2. Even if I did, why would I give out the locations, thus making it harder for me to find him in those spots?

I have no interest in giving out the actually very few locations that I know are still valid to people who are too damn lazy to hunt for him themselves.

I'm not even a Joker hunter, for Goddess sake. The few I know were accidental finds, mostly while pear hunting.

Including when I found the newly added spawn point that resulted in me finding the Thermal Serp hyperbag when Radu placed one under a spawn for a contest this past week.

Right, I was actually pear hunting at the time, and accidently stumbled on him for that. I don't actively search for Joker, just watch for him as I do other things.

If you want Joker spawn locations, use the steps above. Which are the true secret to finding Joker spawns.

(I've also had 3 people ask about an image I put up 3 or so years ago on this blog showing Joker at one of his spawns. The spawn locations have changed several times since then, and that is no longer a valid location even if you knew where it was. Give it up.)

Joker on Google: This post was made because over half my search result traffic coming to this blog was people searching for "eternal lands joker spawn" and similar.

Here's a clue: The only sites that have any mention of actual spawn locations are incredibly outdated, and none of the spawns they mention are actually spawn points anymore. My steps above are the best advice you'll get.

OA 160 and Another Skill Over 100

Been a long time, but finally got another 100+ skill.

Engineering the Amber Away

Two more Engineering days led to 6 more levels.

You advanced to level 96-101 of engineering!

Engineering 101

And with that, I hit my current goal of making it a 100+ skill.

Pray to the New God

That goal was what I was waiting for in order to drop the Engineering god. I continue to hold on to both Alchemy and Manu gods. Of the choices available removing those gods and their enemies, Magic seemed to be the best option.

So, Eng god is now gone, and Magic is in.

Which in turn will help with Alchemy. My goal for it is still a long way off, but Magic leveling will require tons of essies, which I'll end up mixing the overwhelming majority of.

And the Overall Is...

Besides that huge goal, another overall landmark was hit.

Your overall level is now 160!

Overall 160

Granted, the power-leveling of Engineering covered a motherload of the experience needed for that OA.

Further OA's likely won't come as quickly. Now that I'm off the Eng god... Magic can't be power-leveled anywhere near as quickly, especially as someone who doesn't PVP as a rule, so MD sessions aren't an option.

The Alchemist In Me

Holy Health, BurnMan!

McBurnald's

I'm only 128 a/d, so obviously the overwhelming number of those were put on market.

Part of what led to...

You advanced to level 134 of alchemy!

Alchemy 134

In itself, a helluva level.

Forest Chims are Magical

Been doing some occasional double FCW bashing, using MD of course for extra magic experience...

You advanced to level 79 of magic!

Magic 79

It's The Daily Show with Burn Stewart!

Okay, that was bad... the occasional FCW bashings of course help with some experience, but I don't do it often enough for it to make a real dent in leveling a/d. That continues to remain primarily from dailies.

You advanced to level 128 of attack!

Attack 128

Just Break It

Steel set is finally broken as of today. The quest continues... my Titanium set is already degraded and ready to go.

Was waiting for the tit set before starting to focus on the swords as well, though I do use degraded ones when I need to use one just in case I could get a break. My coming training/magic leveling and such will require a sword of some sort so I have a pack of degraded ones ready to try and break. Only the scythe has been done thus far.

The Future...

The next big goal is getting Manu up to 100, where I will drop that god. I plan most of my gc to be going into it now, combining school days with Trik runs for lesser expense.

As well, continuing a heavier focus on Alchemy, mixing up tons of essies needed to work on magic. I haven't fully decided on leveling process for magic, but I'm using a lot more where possible, including regular rounds on the dual-FCW spawns for health and mana drain, and regular TS usage "just because". I'll work out a more specific plan for leveling it soon.
